1. Introduction

Welcome to PDF Zipper — PDF Master Suite (“PDF Zipper”, “the App”, “we”, “our”). This Privacy Policy explains how PDF Zipper handles information when you use our application on Android devices.

The short version: PDF Zipper does not collect, transmit, store on any server, or share any personal data or files. All processing happens entirely on your device.

2. Information We Do NOT Collect

PDF Zipper does not collect, process, transmit, or store any of the following:

  • Personal identification information (name, email, phone number)
  • Location data
  • Device identifiers (IMEI, advertising ID, etc.)
  • Usage analytics or crash reports
  • File contents, PDF documents, images, or text you process in the app
  • Browsing history or behavioural data
  • Contacts or calendar data
  • Financial or payment information

We do not require user registration or an account of any kind.

Your documents never leave your device. No files are uploaded to any server, cloud service, or third party at any time.

4. Permissions Used

PDF Zipper requests the following device permissions. Each is used solely for the stated purpose:

4.1 Camera (android.permission.CAMERA)

  • Purpose: Used exclusively in the “Camera to PDF” feature to capture document photos through the in-app camera scanner.
  • Scope: The camera is only active while you are on the Camera to PDF screen. No images are transmitted or stored outside the app’s local output directory.

4.2 Storage — Read (READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE / READ_MEDIA_IMAGES)

  • Purpose: Allows you to select PDF files and images from your device’s storage for processing within the app.
  • Scope: The app reads only the specific files you explicitly select via the file picker or gallery. It does not scan, index, or read any files without your direct action.

4.3 Storage — Write (WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE)

  • Purpose: Allows the app to save output files (merged PDFs, converted images, Word documents, etc.) to your device’s Downloads folder.
  • Scope: Only output files generated by your actions are written to storage. This permission applies to Android 9 (API 28) and below only; on Android 10 and above, files are saved using the standard Downloads directory API without requiring this permission.

4.4 Internet Access

  • Purpose: PDF Zipper does not require internet access for its core functionality. An internet connection may be used only on first launch to pre-download the Google ML Kit OCR model (see Section 5). After the model is downloaded, all OCR processing runs entirely offline.
  • The app will function fully without an internet connection after the initial setup.

5. Third-Party Libraries and SDKs

PDF Zipper uses the following third-party libraries. None of these libraries collect user data or transmit information to external servers in the context of PDF Zipper’s use:

Google ML Kit

PDF Zipper uses Google ML Kit’s Text Recognition API exclusively in on-device mode. Google ML Kit’s on-device API processes images locally without sending data to Google’s servers. For more information, see Google’s Privacy Policy and ML Kit’s Data Disclosure.

6. File Storage

Output files created by PDF Zipper (merged PDFs, converted documents, extracted images, etc.) are saved to:

  • Android: Your device’s public Downloads folder (/storage/emulated/0/Download/), or the app’s private Documents directory as a fallback.
  • iOS: The app’s private Documents folder, accessible via the Files app.

These files belong entirely to you. PDF Zipper does not retain copies, does not access these files after creation, and does not transmit them anywhere. You may delete them at any time using the in-app File Manager or your device’s file management tools.

The app maintains a local history index (a JSON file in the app’s private Documents directory) that stores file names, paths, sizes, and creation dates of output files. This data is stored exclusively on your device and is never transmitted externally. You can clear this history at any time from Settings → Storage Management → Clear All.

7. Children’s Privacy

PDF Zipper is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect any information from children. As PDF Zipper does not collect any personal data from any user, there are no specific risks to children’s privacy from the use of this app.

8. Data Security

Because PDF Zipper does not collect or transmit any personal data or file contents, there is no risk of your data being intercepted, breached, or misused through our systems. All data remains on your device, subject to your device’s own security measures (screen lock, encryption, etc.).

9. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected by updating the “Last Updated” date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of the app after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.

For significant changes, we will endeavour to provide notice through an app update.

10. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights regarding personal data. Since PDF Zipper collects no personal data, there is no personal data to access, correct, delete, or transfer on our end. All data generated by your use of the app resides on your device and is entirely under your control.
