MetroGo BD Privacy Policy

MetroGo BD ("the app") is an independent app for Dhaka Metro Rail (MRT Line-6) fares, stations and MRT Pass / Rapid Pass balances, built by Vinnorokom IT ("we", "us"). This policy explains what information the app uses, where it is kept, and the choices you have.

1. Information the app uses

Location (optional)

• What: your phone's GPS location.
• Why: to find the metro stations nearest to you, set your starting station, and follow your trip stop by stop (live tracking).
• When: only after you allow it, and only while the app is open. The app never uses your location in the background and does not track you when it is closed.
• Where it goes: nowhere. Your location is processed on your phone, is not saved, and is never sent to us or anyone else. The app does not use maps or any online location service.
• You can use the app without location access and choose stations yourself. You can turn location access off at any time in your phone's settings.

MRT Pass / Rapid Pass data (optional, uses NFC)

• What: when you scan your card by holding it to your phone, the app reads the card's ID number and the travel history stored on the card (trip and top-up entries with date, time, stations and balance). You can also give a card a name.
• Why: to show your card balance and trip history.
• Where it is kept: only on your phone, in the app's private storage. The app keeps the entries it has already seen, so your history can grow beyond what the card itself holds.
• Where it goes: nowhere. The app only reads your card. It never writes to the card or changes your balance.
• Backups: if you choose Export, the app saves a backup file to a place you pick. If you choose Import, you pick the file to load. We never receive these files. Please keep backup files private, because they contain your card number and travel history.

Fare chart updates

The app includes a built-in fare chart and works offline. Only when you tap Sync in Settings does the app download the latest public fare chart from GitHub (raw.githubusercontent.com). This request contains no personal information from the app. As with any website, GitHub receives your device's IP address to deliver the file; GitHub's own privacy statement applies to it.

Contacting us

If you tap our contact email, your own email app opens. If you send us an email, we receive your email address and message and use them only to reply to you.

2. What we do not do

• No sign-up or account.
• No advertising, analytics, crash-reporting or tracking tools.
• No selling, renting or sharing of your data.
• No access to your contacts, photos, camera or microphone, and no access to your files other than a backup file you choose yourself.

3. Permissions the app asks for

• Location (while using the app): nearest station and live trip tracking.
• NFC: reading your MRT Pass or Rapid Pass.
• Internet: only for fare chart updates when you tap Sync.

4. Keeping and deleting your data

Everything the app stores (your scanned cards and the latest fare chart) is on your phone. You can remove a card at any time from the MRT Pass tab. Uninstalling the app deletes all of its data. Your location is never stored.

5. Security

Your data stays in the app's private storage on your phone, protected by your phone's operating system. Because we do not collect your data, none of it is held on our servers.

6. Children

The app is for a general audience. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13.

7. Not an official app

MetroGo BD is not an official app of Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL) and is not affiliated with DMTCL. Fares and card information are shown for convenience only; for official information, please contact DMTCL.

8. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will update this page and the effective date above. If a change affects how your data is handled, we will also mention it in the app update notes.
