1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy describes how the Carrot VPN app for iOS ("we", "our", or "us") collects, uses, and protects information when you use the app. It applies specifically to the iOS version of Carrot VPN.
Carrot VPN is built with a shared, cross-platform codebase used by both our Android and iOS apps. On iOS, the app currently ships as a free VPN service only: free servers, no advertisements, and no in-app purchases or subscriptions. Some third-party SDKs present in the shared codebase — specifically an advertising SDK and an in-app-purchase framework — are bundled with the app as a normal consequence of that shared architecture, but are not invoked, active, or reachable anywhere in the iOS build. No advertising identifiers are read, no ads are requested or shown, and no purchases can be made in this version.
2. Information We Collect
Carrot VPN for iOS does not read or transmit any device-specific identifier — including IDFA, IDFV, or any other hardware identifier. We do not collect names, email addresses, contacts, or any personally identifying information.
2.1 Account identifier
On first launch, the app makes a single call to our backend, which generates a random, non-personal account identifier and returns it to the app. The app stores this identifier locally on your device solely to authenticate its own future requests to our servers. This identifier is not derived from your device, your identity, or any personal data, and cannot be used on its own to identify you.
2.2 IP address
When the app makes an HTTPS API call to our servers, our backend observes the IP address that call originates from — this is a standard property of any network request, not something read from your device or the app bundle. In line with our no-logs policy (Section 3), this connection information is not retained as a log of your activity.
We do not collect or store:
- Browsing history
- DNS queries
- Traffic destination or content
- Device advertising identifiers (IDFA/IDFV) or other hardware identifiers
- Device information, diagnostics, crash reports, or usage statistics
- Payment or subscription information (the iOS app has no in-app purchases)
3. VPN Service
Carrot VPN uses Apple's Network Extension framework to create a secure, encrypted connection between your device and our servers. This connection helps protect your internet traffic and improve privacy while using public or private networks.
We operate under a No-Logs Policy: we do not monitor, log, or store your online activity, browsing history, or traffic content.
4. Advertising
The iOS version of Carrot VPN does not display advertisements. No advertising SDK is active, requested, or reachable in this build, and no advertising identifiers are read or transmitted.
5. In-App Purchases & Subscriptions
The iOS version of Carrot VPN does not offer any in-app purchases or subscriptions, and no purchase flow is enabled in this build. No payment or billing information is collected. We plan to introduce optional premium subscriptions in a future, clearly separate update, once that feature has completed App Store review — this Privacy Policy will be updated accordingly before it launches.
6. Third-Party Services
No third-party analytics, advertising, or crash-reporting service is active in the iOS build of Carrot VPN. No data is shared with third parties.
7. Data Security
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information and ensure secure data transmission. However, no method of transmission over the internet is completely secure.
8. Children's Privacy
Our application is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information, please contact us so we can remove it.
9. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time — including when advertising or subscriptions are introduced to the iOS app in a future update. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date.
